Mountain Gear that Hunts Everywhere

TUO® melds form, fit, function, and technology to offer hunters premium high-country gear that will also perform in the back forty.

MUSKEGON, Mich. (September 22, 2024) – Each year, September’s golden aspen stands set the ridgelines and alpine meadows of the west aglow, while bull elk serenade harems with lovesick bugles that echo across the mountainside. The sound is haunting and enchanting all at once, and there is no doubt the bull elk’s ancient song beckons anxious hunters who have gathered to take part in one of North America’s great traditions.
It’s as close to being a mountain man as most hunters ever get, and whether you’re a fortunate mountain resident or a hunter dreaming of escaping to a more compelling topography from the confines of the flatlands – if only for a few precious days – advanced preparation for a western big game hunt is of critical importance. Because just “winging-it” ain’t gonna cut it in the wild lands where elk and other big game live.
|
Physical conditioning comes into play when traversing pitchy landscapes at high altitudes, but all the cardio in the world will never safeguard a hunter from nature’s often cruel elements. The first box on the preparation list that must be checked is the very clothing you wear, while committing to the apex of North American big game hunting.
TUO® gear harnesses the finest materials and technology into a line of outerwear that hits all the marks…and then some. Next to skin base layers so comfortable you will want to sleep in them, mid-layers that offer just the right amount of insulation and protection from the elements, and an outer layer that will conquer any conditions Mother Nature throws your way. A three-layer system that works together in any conditions, at any altitude, in any landscape.
|
“None of us want complicated buying decisions, but hunters definitely want to be lead down a path,” explained TUO president, Aaron Amber. “The first layer is next to the skin, then an insulating mid-layer if needed, and the last part is the protective layer. Our pledge is to educate the consumer and help them make quick buying decisions when selecting a system that fits their needs.”
Amber continued, “We thought about fabric first. Lightweight fabrics that have good durability and stretch, because one of the most important things to TUO is mobility. Then we thought about the patterns, how we cut and sew them, and how we shape everything to make sure it fits great.”
While most TUO gear is available in functional solid colors, according to Amber, the third thing that defines the brand is the camo, and the company’s proprietary Verse pattern turned out even better than the TUO team had dreamed.
|
“Effective camo disrupts the human shape. We really nailed it with this camo pattern. The feedback we are getting from guides and avid hunters is incredible.” he revealed.
“We named it Verse because we wanted a versatile pattern that applies to many different terrains, as opposed to forcing hunters to choose between specific patterns to match the terrain they are hunting. With Verse, you can work your way up from the plains to the sub-alpine zones, then alpine, and eventually above the tree line. Verse camo acclimates to all those terrains. It even looks great in tree stands. I’ve seen them all in action and there has never been a camo pattern that works this well in so many conditions.”
|
There’s no mistaking this camouflage pattern. It is bold in both form and function, bringing a remarkable set of capabilities for a discerning goal-minded hunter. The range of use for Verse extends to just about anywhere in North America, minimizing limitations. It uses bold contrast to its advantage to fight against isoluminance (color blobbing) and obscure the hunter, wherever that hunt may take them.
TUO’s simplicity of assortment is “narrow and very purposeful” as Amber put it. Think of this system as more of a tool kit that allows you to take what fits your needs during early seasons in August, all the way through late season gun hunts. TUO gear is meticulously designed to ensure you have the necessary layers at the exact moment you need them.
The folks at TUO believe that gear should be made with the finest materials and constructed to fit seamlessly into your adventure. Over 100 years of combined product development and countless hours invested on mountain sides, open plains, trail heads, and tree stands cultivated the concept and production of the TUO line of outdoor gear. Dirty hands, sweaty backs, and tired legs defined the vision of what a modern solution should be.
