Father/Son Pro Anglers Share Success Story and Career Tips

NPAA Conference presentation reveals thrills of father-son fishing connection, plus how to deal with industry changes.

Forestville, WI (March 8, 2023) – Ask professional anglers Jason and Jay Przekurat about their days on the tourney trail and both will assure you they’re living the family dream. The father-son fishing team, who hail form Stevens Point, Wisconsin, delighted the crowd during their featured seminar at the National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) 2023 Annual Conference held in Fort Myers, Florida in January.

Jason, 52, is a two-time winner of the prestigious FLW Walleye Tour Angler of the Year title, an FLW Walleye Tour Qualifier Champion, two-time National Walleye Tour Championship winner and a Masters Walleye Circuit World Championship winner. Jay, 23, is starting his 2nd year on the Bassmaster Elite Series and is the youngest angler to ever win an Elite Series event. He also has two Bassmaster Open co-angler wins to his credit! Together the pair, both NPAA members, shined on stage as they do on the water.

Things may be sweet for the dynamic duo right now, but both father and son were clear from the git-go about the amount of work required to be a successful pro, the importance of having solid family support, and the need to constantly refine your game and career as the sport changes over time. Presenting a crisp and well-thought-out treatise on what it takes to not only call yourself a professional angler, but to thrive under that title, they offered the kind of advice you might hope to get from long-time personal mentors.

“You couldn’t find a better example of two pro tourney anglers to represent our conference theme of ‘Control Your Own Destiny,” said NPAA president, Patrick Neu. “And how cool is it that they happen to be father and son. Jason has made a career as a tournament pro and an exceptional angler educator. Jay is now well on his way to doing the same as a BASS Elite Series angler. There certainly is a lot you can learn from these two highly skilled and successful angling pros.”

NPAA has just made it easy to capture all that great fishing wisdom and business-building insight with a digital release of the Przekurat’s entire seminar.
